The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens

The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens at Port Augusta showcases a range of arid zone environments within an area of more than 200 hectares, with an extensive network of meandering walking tracks and gardens as well as the award winning Visitor Centre for you to enjoy.

Opened in 1996, the garden provides a national focus for arid-zone ecosystem conservation and promotes its economic importance for Australia.

Powell Gardens

Powell Gardens is fast becoming recognised as a unique public space that highlights the contribution our local native plants can make to everyone’s garden. With the objective to plant at least one of every species of plant that grows within a 20km radius of Quorn, this garden combines creativity, imagination and perseverance. Tapping into the vast knowledge of Brian Powell, best known for his pioneering work with the native Quandong plant, this volunteer group painstakingly collects seeds or cuttings, as well as digging up the odd plant when they are in their dormant period, to create their garden around the plants. Powell Gardens is part of Australia's Open Garden scheme.

Bounceback Flinders Ranges

Bounceback Flinders Ranges is working towards the restoration of ecosystems to protect species that have persisted in the Flinders Ranges and make possible the reintroduction of some locally extinct species. See Bounceback Brochure (500kb PDF).
