Choices abound, four wheel driving, a short stroll along one of the many beautiful gorges, maybe a spot of wildlife watching to glimpse the yellow footed rock wallaby? Whatever you choose you can't fail to appreciate the rugged splendour of the Southern Flinders Ranges.

Situated between the well known Warren and Buckaringa Gorges, Argadells is the perfect site to explore the Flinders Ranges. Argadells offers magnificent views and spectacular scenery to those who stay here.

Within a distance of nine kilometres from here there are no less than seven gorges all waiting to be explored. Three of these gorges are situated on Argadells with Buckaringa Gorge on the northern boundary. Argadells private 4WD tracks offer the only way for any person to get a vehicle to the top of Mount Arden.

Guests can go bush walking, 4WD driving along sign posted private property access tracks. These tracks can lead you to some relatively unknown but magnificent scenery and views including the top of Mount Arden (806m). Places where you will see the Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby, Euros, wildflowers in season, huge sandstone formations and views for hundreds of kilometres.

Hiking / walking

Walking is one of the best ways to experience the beauty of Argadells. The tranquility of the gorges and vistas from the numerous high peaks can all be enjoyed on foot.

The property boasts having the picturesque Hannaman Gorge and South Creek Gorge within its boundaries.

Mount Arden is easily accessible from here by those who like to bush walk. To get there you will walk along shady gum tree lined creeks, through sandstone faced rocky gorges, native pine forests and across undulating spinifex country. The yaccas when either in flower or with a recent black seed head often provide magnificent photo shots as you come over the top of a hill.

Rock Wallabies and Euros are very common. The views on the way up make this hike an extremely enjoyable one. Take your picnic lunch with you and plenty of drinking water, make it an all day event.

Arguably South Australia's most famous trail, the Heysen Trail, meanders its way through the spectacular scenery of Argadells. Argadells cottage accommodation provides a perfect base for those wishing to walk this spectacular section of the trail.

For all activities involving walking we suggest that you think carefully about your intended route before departing and choose a walk that matches your ability and fitness. Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return. Wear appropriate clothing, comfortable appropriate footwear, a hat and sunscreen. It is important to take enough food and water with you, and a map and compass.

Four Wheel Driving

Argadells is a must for any 4WD enthusiast with its exciting network of tracks criss crossing the property, from the deep winding gorges to the heights of Mount Arden. Mount Arden is the highest point in this part of the Flinders Ranges and the magnificent views extend to Lake Torrens, Melrose, Horseshoe Range, and Wilpena Pound. The tracks are your path to exploring the beauty of the Flinders Ranges.

4WD tracks range in difficulty from straight forward to challenging. Please examine the map carefully before you head out for a drive and only follow tracks that are matched to your experience and your vehicles capabilities.
